Joe was born in North Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, Canada. He passed away in Portland, Oregon, surrounded by his family.
He is the ninth child of Peter and Lucinda (MacKenzie) Stubbert. Joe was adopted by Esther and Stanley Adams at the age of 9 and moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. He married Terri White in 1973 and had four children before divorcing in 1996. He lived around eastern Washington and Oregon before settling in Umatilla, Oregon, in 1986 where he lived with his family.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Weslie, Edward and Sandra Stubbert.
He married Barbara Henson in 2013. Joe is survived by Barbara, his four children Candi (Kyle) Hanson, Cherisa (Kierin) Doherty, Weslie (Kilee) Adams and Casee (Martin) Lance, and stepchildren Jaclyn Castorena and Greg Davis. He leaves behind grandchildren Andrew, Jaeden, Quinton, Caleb, Cade, Daniel, Kyler, Colt, Ciena, Abby, Caia, Zoey, Ashton and Kylie, stepgrandchildren Whitlee and Haylee, and great-grandson Connor. He is also survived by his brother Weslie Adams, who was his best friend for 60 years. His surviving brothers and sisters include Leslie, Mina, Barbara, Faye, Marilyn, Angus and Holly.
Joe worked as a truck driver for many years before he found his place farming. He was an incredibly hard worker and always gave his all, no matter what job he held. He loved farming and had planned to retire this year to start his own small farm with his wife. He loved carpentry and was always building things around the house. Fishing, John Wayne westerns, family barbecues and sleeping under the stars were some of his greatest joys in life.
Joe will be greatly missed by his family and all the people he worked with along with the complete strangers he met and offered to help whether they asked or not. He was truly a man who would give you the shirt off of his back. He gave and gave and never expected or wanted anything in return. He took in anybody who needed help. His door was never closed. His generosity was absolutely amazing. It was who he was and it will be what he is always remembered for.
A celebration of life will be held June 10th at 10 a.m. at Burns Mortuary chapel, Hermiston, Oregon.
