Bettyjane Bruner was born May 25, 1933, at Detroit, Michigan, to parents Edwin and Dolly (Zimmer) Gilpin. She died Monday, April 16, 2016, in Hermiston, Oregon, at the age of 82.
She was raised in Camas, Washington, and graduated from high school in Washougal, Washington. She moved to Hermiston in 1950. She worked at the Crossroads Truck Stop as a cook and there she met the love of her life, Vernon Bruner, who was also a cook. They soon married and Bettyjane returned to school to become an accountant.
They managed an apartment complex in Walla Walla, Washington, for many years. They returned to Hermiston and lived at Sun Terrace Assisted Living Facility. She enjoyed attending church functions for the Baptist church. She was a quiet person who liked spending time with her friends. Bettyjane enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, cross stitching and knitting afghans, but she dearly loved her family and their gatherings, especially during the holidays.
She is survived by her children Richard (Gloria) Ross of Hermiston, Ore., Debra (Gary) Maxey of Hermiston, Ore., and Nona Ross of Lebanon, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Vernon; parents Edwin and Dolly Gilpin; and brother Keal Marson.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. at Living Faith Church, 1611 Diagonal Blvd., Hermiston, OR 97838.
