Bonnie Bell Bates (Frank), 86, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday the 25th of September, 2018, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She was born in Santana, Kansas, on the 18th of August, 1932, to Ira Frank and Daisy Bell Frank (Hern). She grew up in Anthony, Kansas where she met the love of her life, James Dexter Bates, but it wasn’t until he came home on furlough from the Navy that she “started chasin’ after him.” They were married on the 1st of February, 1951. In June 1953, they welcomed their first child, a daughter. Thirteen years and many moves across the western United States later, they welcomed their second child, a son. They eventually settled in Hermiston, Oregon, where they remained until they decided to move to be closer to their daughter.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Loy; and sisters, Maxine and Betty. She leaves behind the love of her life, James Bates; her children, Debi Bates Brown and Jayms Kevn Bates (Jeanne); five grandchildren, Angela Nichole Streeper (JD), Jayms Kevn Bates II, Jayson Anthony Bates, Justyn Alexander Bates (Madison) and Kayden Edward Bates; and countless nieces, nephews and cousins.
A special thank you to Mandy, Claudia and the Canyon Creek Assisted Living facility staff for their hard work and dedication.
Services were held Oct. 1, 2018, at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary in Murray, Utah. Burial followed at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 E. 4580 S. Millcreek UT, 84117.
